Elite Athletes of the Week


Elite Stone Supply, in conjunction with WBHF and Bartow Sports Zone, presents the ELITE ATHLETES OF THE WEEK. Each week, all five local schools are provided opportunity to name an Elite Athlete of the Week and present the information on their honoree through Bartow Sports Zone and on 100.3FM and AM1450, WBHF in Cartersville.



Recipients for the week ending November 12, 2016:

Kyle Gollhofer, Woodland High School

Hunter Hice, Adairsville High School

Brooke Lambert, Cass High School

Trevor Lawrence, Cartersville High School

Lindsey Mauldin, Excel Christian Academy

 

The Elite Athlete of the Week for Woodland High School is Kyle Gollhofer.


The son of Rob and Christy Gollhofer, Kyle is an individual defending state champion in the 113-pound weight class in wrestling in Georgia's Class AAAAA.


A sophomore with a 4.0 grade point average, Gollhofer won last weekend’s Lassiter Invitational and is currently ranked No. 20 in the nation.



 

Hunter Hice is the Elite Athlete of the Week representing Adairsville High School.


Hice is a junior guard for the Tigers’ basketball team and a top contributer for the Adairsville baseball team also.


He has started the basketball season as the most improved player from last season for the Tigers. His coaching staff notes the hard work he put in during the off season and his contributions so far this season. They credit his hustle and ball awareness on the floor.


The son of Courtney and Angie Hice, he maintains a 4.0 grade point average.


 

Brooke Lambert is the Cass High School Elite Athlete of the Week.


A cheerleader on the football and competition cheer teams, Lambert is a leader both on and off the mats for her teams. Her coaches point to her infectious joy and enthusiasm as an inspiration to her teammates. Lambert is known for her day-in and day-out commitment to her team and her ability to push others to be the best they can be. She was an essential part of the Cass team that qualified for the Class AAAAA state meet.


Lambert is a senior and the daughter of Tonya and Philip Smith.

 

Trevor Lawrence is the Elite Athlete of the Week representing Cartersville High School.


Lawrence passed for 258 yards and seven touchdowns in the first half of the Canes’ opening round 77-14 playoff victory last week over Chestatee. He now has 2,922 yards and 40 TDs for the season and has helped lead Cartersville to 26 consecutive wins.


The Canes posted 56 points in only 24 first half plays in the blowout win. They will play Burke County Friday night at Weinman Stadium in the second round of the Class AAAA playoffs.


The son of Jeremy and Amanda Lawrence, the Canes’ junior quarterback is the national consensus No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2018.

 

Lindsey Mauldin is the Elite Athlete of the Week from Excel Christian Academy.


The daughter of Missy and Derick Mauldin, Lindsey is a senior and has attended Excel since kindergarten.


Mauldin is a four year starter for the softball team where she contributed by playing first base, outfield, and catcher. She is also a four year starter at forward for the Lady Eagles’ basketball team and a member of the Excel golf team.


She has served as a captain on the softball and basketball teams for the past two years.


“Lindsey has been a vital part of the growth and development of the Excel basketball program,” said her basketball coach Eric Harris. “She has demonstrated outstanding leadership and a positive work ethic.”


Mauldin ranks fourth in her graduating class and assumes many leadership roles at Excel. She is a positive influence and role model for others at the school. She currently holds the posts of Senior Class President, vice president of the Spanish Honor Society, and secretary for the Beta Club.


She is an active participant in the Hand of Christ Ministry that tutors elementary student on a weekly basis at Cartersville First Presbyterian Church. Mauldin also gives back to the community as a participant in Splash Bartow for the last three years and sheis a member of Cartersville First Baptist Church.


She has been accepted to attend Samford University in Birmingham and Kennesaw State University. Her ultimate goal is to graduate from college and attend law school.
