Woodland reaches semifinals of State Duals

The Woodland wrestling team reached the Class AAAAA State Duals Championship semifinals Thursday night with a 48-20 win over Whitewater.

Woodland, who defeated Harris County in the first round Thursday afternoon, will now face Ola in the state semifinals Friday evening at 5:30pm.

A win over Ola would put the Wildcats in a state championship match Saturday against either Union Grove or Buford. Those two teams will meet in the other state semifinal Friday.

The Cass wrestling team opened the state tournament Thursday afternoon with a 73-6 win over Decatur, but fell to Union Grove 46-17 in the quarterfinals.

Cass will now compete in the consolation bracket with an opportunity to finish as high as third.

The Colonels begin that effort Friday at 12:30pm against Ware County. Cass would need four consecutive wins in the consolation bracket to achieve third place.
