Canes' wrestling qualifies three for state tourney

Cartersville, competing Saturday at the Class AAAA state sectionals at Woodward Academy, qualified three wrestlers for the state traditional championship tournament next week at Macon Coliseum.

The state tournament qualifers for the Canes include Robby Earick who placed fourth in the 132-pound weight class; Jonathan De La Cruz, fifth at 220-pounds; and Carlos Aborresco finished eighth in the 170-pound division.

State tournament alternates for the Canes are Caz Smith in the 106-pound weight class and Rafael Lopez in the heavyweight division.

“We are very proud of all our wrestlers and their efforts this weekend,” stated Cartersville wrestling coach Garvin Edwards.
