Lady Canes' soccer wins opener, Canes play Villa Rica to draw


The Cartersville girls soccer team defeated visiting Villa Rica Wednesday night in a non-region match, 3-2.


Chloe Davis scored twice for the Lady Canes and Caroline Bagwell added the other Cartersville goal.


The loss evened the Lady Wildcats early season record at 1-1.


Cartersville (1-0) hosts Model Thursday at 5:30pm.

 

CARTERSVILLE BOYS 2, VILLA RICA 2


The Cartersville boys played visiting Villa Rica to a 2-2 draw Wednesday night in non-region action.


Villa Rica took an early 2-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game. Both goals came off free kicks into the box.


The Canes’ Pedro Robledo scored an unassisted goal to cut the Wildcats’ lead in half in the first six minutes of the second half and Cesar Abeja scored the tying goal with 20 minutes remaining on a free kick header with the assist coming from Robledo.


With the tie, Villa Rica's season mark moved to 2-0-1.


Cartersville (0-0-1) hosts Model Thursday at 7:30pm.
