Canes edged by Chestatee in PK shootout
Chestatee keeper Steven Martinez saved two of the three shots he faced in the penalty shootout and all four Eagles’ shooters scored for a 4-1 penalty kicks win at Cartersville Friday night after the two teams had played to a 1-1 tie through regulation and two, five-minute overtimes.
Chestatee led 1-0 at halftime, but Cartersville’s Cesar Abeja scored the equalizer in the opening minutes of the second half.
Chestatee improved to 2-3-1 with the win.
Cartersville (2-1-1) hosts Northwest Whitfield Tuesday at 7:30pm and begins Region 5AAAA play at home Thursday against Troup County at 8pm.
