Cass boys third, Lady Colonels sixth at 13-team Southeast Invite
The Cass boys placed third and the Cass girls were sixth Saturday at the 13-school Southeast Whitfield Invitational in Dalton.
Cass junior sprinter, Terry Berdin, was selected boys overall running MVP of the meet. Berdin set a person best in his 100 meter dash with a winning time of 10.72. He also won the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.03.
The Colonels’ 4x100M Relay team won with a finals time of 43.44. Ray Varnum won the 110 meter hurdles with a finals time of 15.09 and he won the long jump with a mark of 21 feet and 1 inch. Tavarus Varnum won the boys’ high jump by clearing 6 feet 0.25 inches.
In the girls’ high jump, Cass junior Kyler Trouten set new school record by clearing 5 feet and 2 inches. Trouten also had a fifth place finish in the 300 meter hurdles.

Cass travels to Calhoun High School Tuesday for a quad-meet with Coosa, Coahulla Creek, and Calhoun. The team will also participate in the Calhoun Invitational at Calhoun High School next Saturday.
