Woodland soccer teams shutout at Kell
The Woodland girls soccer team lost to Kell Tuesday night 4-0 in Region 7AAAAA action in Cobb County.
Coach Jonathan Cannon of the Lady Cats noted continued improvement of his squad despite the loss.
“We’re finding some confidence in each other and getting better,” Cannon said following the game. “Kell had a couple of balls that bounced around and found the net, but the team has kept a very positive attitute even though we’ve had an adventurous start to the season.”
Cannon noted the performances of Lexie Lehmann, Morgan Ketchum, and Holly Quick on Monday night. He also credited Emelina Acevedo with an outstanding performance in net after the Lady Cats lost their starter to injury.
Kell improved to 3-3 on the season with the shutout win. The Lady Longhorns are now 2-0 in region play.
Woodland (0-6-1, 0-3) will host county-rival Cass Friday night in another region match that kicks off at 5:30pm.

The Wildcats battled, but fell to the currently unbeaten Longhorns Monday night in Cobb County.
Kell got the game's only goal and improved to 7-0 for the season and 2-0 in Region 7AAAAA. Woodland slipped to 3-3-1 overall and is 1-2 in region play.
The Wildcats host rival Cass Friday at 7:30pm in a Region 7AAAAA tilt.
