GHC softball sweeps West Georgia Tech


The Georgia Highlands softball team swept a doubleheader Friday with West Georgia Tech, 7-0 and 6-1, Friday to complete the first rotation of GCAA games with a 9-5 conference mark and are only one-half game behind league-leading Georgia Military College.


Rebecca Meade tossed a complete-game shutout in the first game. She allowed only three hits and a walk while striking out two.


Micayla McCoy yielded only one earned run on four hits and a walk in the second game. McCoy fanned five.


Andria Booth (photo) led the Chargers’ offense with a 4-for-6 performance at the plate. She had a pair of doubles, a walk, and two stolen bases.


Lauren Womack was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk. Mackenzy McFarland hit her third home run of the year in the second game.


GHC (25-8, 9-5) plays a midweek doubleheader at the Thomas University JV Tuesday and will return to Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association conference play next Saturday with a trip to Gordon State.
