Lady Canes win thriller; Lady Tigers rout North Murray

The Adairsville and Cartersville girls soccer teams both earned victories Tuesday night in their respective regions, while Woodland was shutout by Villa Rica.
ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 8, NORTH MURRAY 0
Emily Collum scored four goals and Chloe Cochran scored twice as the Lady Tigers blanked North Murray.
Katie Lawhorn and Gillian Johnson each added a goal for Adairsville.
Lauren Stephenson, Emily Emmons, Lawhorn, and Collum each had assists.
Havyn Isaac and Lex Jackson split time in net to record the shutout.
Adairsville (7-2, 4-2) hosts Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe at 5:30pm next Thursday.
CARTERSVILLE GIRLS 2, SANDY CREEK 1
The Lady Canes came-from-behind with a pair of second half goals to defeat Sandy Creek Tuesday, 2-1.
After a scoreless first half, the Lady Patriots took a 1-0 lead early in the second half.
Kaylyn Donegan tied the game in the 55th minute off a feed from Rebecca Hays.
The game remained tied until the 72nd minute when Sandy Creek was called for a handball in the box.
Hays converted the penalty kick and the Lady Canes held on for the win.
Cartersville (6-4, 2-2 Region 5AAAA) hosts region-rival Cedartown Friday at 5:30pm.
VILLA RICA GIRLS 5, WOODLAND 0
Villa Rica scored four, first-half goals and then cruised to a 5-0 win over Woodland.
The Lady Cats, who have been decimated by key injuries this season, fall to 0-9 on the year.
