Kell earns series split with Cass

Cass fell behind early and could not muster enough offense Friday afternoon at LakePoint in Emerson during a 7-2 loss to the Class AAAAA 7th-ranked Kell Longhorns.
The win by Kell earned a two-game, region split in their series with the Colonels. Cass won Thursday night 7-6.
Kell put runs on the scoreboard in four of the first five innings Friday, including four runs in the fourth inning to take a commanding 7-0 lead.
Cass managed their only runs in the top of the seventh on a two-RBI double by Jake Collum.
Jake Lecroy (6.2 IP, 2ER, 5H, 1BB, 4K) was the winning pitcher for the Longhorns.
Noah Dawkins and Hunter Moody combined for five hits and three RBIs to help lead Kell’s offense.
Austin Pruett (4 IP, 6ER, 10H, 2BB, 3K) started for Cass on the mound and was saddled with the loss. Steven Spell (2 IP, 1ER, 2H, 1BB, 2K) worked the Colonels’ final two innings from the bump.

Collum (photo) finished with two hits, including a double and two RBIs. Clay Means, Bailey Campbell (double), Gavin Young, and Tyler Henden (double) had the remaining Cass hits.
Kell improved its season mark to 17-8 overall and 7-4 in Region 7AAAAA.
Cass (14-12, 7-6) hosts East Paulding Monday and travels to Dallas to face the Raiders Wednesday in their next two-game Region 7AAAAA series.
