Lady Cats tennis earns state playoff berth

The Woodland High School girls tennis team secured a spot in the Class AAAAA state playoffs Tuesday with an opening round Region 7AAAAA tournament win over Villa Rica, 3-2.

The Lady Cats fell in the semifinals to top-seed Kell, 3-0, but will play Rome Wednesday to determine third and fourth place in the region.

Deanna Dodson and Ashlyn Walker picked up singles wins for Woodland over Villa Rica at lines two and three. Caroline Gore and Michele Maserjian earned the third Lady Cats’ point with a victory at line one doubles.
