Robledo's hat trick leads Colonels to soccer win at Coahulla Creek


The Cass High School boys soccer won at Coahulla Creek Tuesday night in a non-region game, 6-3.


The Colonels’ Anthony Robledo scored the first of five first half goals for Cass off an assist from Jorge Cabanos with 35:09 remaining. Less than five minutes later, Jonathan Tong found the net off a feed from Robledo to give the Colonels a 2-0 lead.


Felipe Albarran scored off a Robledo assist with 29:33 remaining in the opening half and Robledo completed the hat trick in the first half with two more goals in the final seven minutes.


Robledo’s second goal came with 6:46 remaining in the half off an assist from Slomi Orozco. His third score was with 5:38 remaining in the first half on a feed from Jackson Laurent that gave Cass a 5-0 lead at the intermission.


Coahulla Creek scored three goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half to narrow the Colonels’ lead to 5-3, but the game settled down for most of the remainder of the game and Cass’ Laurent added an insurance goal off an assist from Javier Duarte with 2:18 remaining to secure the victory.


Brandon Romero had six saves in net for the Colonels.


Cass (4-9) has a home, non-region game with North Springs Friday at 8pm.
