Fairbanks, Lowery, Jordan, and Riddle recognized by Positive Athlete Georgia

Positive Athlete Georgia recently recognized its 2016-17 Northwest Atlanta Region winners with four athletes from local high schools included.

“Positive Athlete Georgia” is a movement by high-character professional athletes tied to Georgia professional and collegiate sports teams to promote the benefits of “positivity” in young athletes. These athletes believe it is crucial to begin shaping the futures of young athletes for life skills beyond athletic competition and to learn how to give back to their community. Current and former professional athletes are members of this organization, and high school athletes are nominated by a coach, school administrator, parent or fan for the annual Georgia Positive High School Athlete Awards. “Positive Athletes of the Game” is a way to emphasize the importance of having a positive attitude.

Local athletes recognized:

Benjamin Fairbanks

Cass High School — Swim and Dive

Chad Lowery

Adairsville High School -- Multi-Sport

Lilly Jordan

Woodland High School — Softball

Taylor Riddle

Cartersville High School — Girls Tennis

Over 4,700 student-athletes and coaches from over 400 high schools were nominated this year with only about 8 percent recognized as a regional winner.

Regional winners are also eligible to potentially win a state-wide award or college scholarship.

(L-R) Benjamin Fairbanks, Chad Lowery, Lilly Jordan, Taylor Riddle
