Ayers named new Cass baseball head coach

After serving as an assistant baseball and softball coach at Cass High School over the past dozen years, Tim Ayers has been named as the new head baseball coach for the Colonels.

The spot came open in late April when previous head coach Adam Williams stepped down.

Principal Mike Nelson and athletic director Nicky Moore shuffled through a pile of outside applicants and conducted interviews, but ultimately decided to stay in-house.

Ayers, a special education teacher at Cass High School, played at Glen Oaks CC in Michigan and Georgetown College in Kentucky. He has also previously coached with Division I IUPUI, East Cobb Baseball, and 6-4-3 Baseball Academy.

Cass was 15-15 in 2017 and 8-8 in Region 7-AAAAA.
