Malone wins P&G Gymnastics Championship all-around representing Cartersville Twisters

Brody Malone, a Cedartown native who competes for the Cartersville Twisters Gymnastics team, won the Level 10 (17-18) men’s division all-around of the P&G Gymnastics Championship Saturday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.


The 17-year-old scored 81.300 points Thursday during the preliminary round to lead Vitally Guimaraes of 5280 Gymnastics by only 2.550 points following six events.


The all-around competition combines scores from floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar.



In Saturday’s finals, Malone scored 80.800 points for a 162.100 total and the all-around title. Guimaraes finished second with 158.150 points. Max Andryushchenko of Ohio State was third with 153.700 and Griffin Kehler of University of Nebraska was fourth with 153.550 points.

Malone was also first in four individual events. He won the floor exercise, pommel horse, parallel bars, and horizontal bar. He finished second on the still rings and was fourth in the vault.


Yuri Kouznetsov is the coach for Malone at the Cartersville Twisters Gym located off Lee Street in Cartersville.
