Lady Colonels sweep, Woodland earns split

Cass volleyball shook off some recent losses Thursday night by sweeping both Pickens County and Cedartown in non-region matches.

The Lady Colonels defeated Cedartown 25-15, 25-22 and outlasted Pickens 25-22 in both sets to complete both victories in straight sets.

“The girls really stepped it up tonight and played hard,” noted Cass coach Chelsea Morris. “I think the recent losses were a wake-up call for them. Macy Wright was a big part of our defense tonight while Keegan Krause and Alexis Ware led our offense in kills.”

The Lady Colonels (11-9) return to the hardwood next Thursday for their Senior Night match with visiting Model and will play in the Bartow County Championship Tournament Saturday, September 16 at Cartersville.

Woodland volleyball split home matches Thursday evening with Rockmart and North Paulding.

The Lady Cats beat Rockmart 25-19, 25-18, but fell to North Paulding 25-8, 25-11.

Woodland (5-14) travels to Villa Rica Tuesday to face Hiram and Carrollton.
