VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS: Lawrence's record setting night
Cartersville High School senior quarterback Trevor Lawrence had a record setting night Friday as the Canes' cruised to a Region 5-AAAA victory over Chapel Hill, 62-0, on Senior Night.
Lawrence is now the career passing yardage leader in Georgia high school football history and is only one TD pass short of tying the record for most TD passes with a regular season game at Troup remaining November 3 and then the post-season.
Both records were/are held by Deshaun Watson who now plays for the Houston Texans by way of Clemson University and Gainesville (GA) High School.
The Purple Hurricanes' signal-caller now sits at 13,254 passing yards and has 154 TD passes.
Lawrence (6-6, 205, Clemson commit) is now 48-1 as a starter for the two-time defending state champions and the Hurricanes have won 39 games in a row.
Playing only the first half, Lawrence completed 17-of-23 passes for 283 yards and four touchdowns, leading Cartersville to touchdowns on seven of its eight first-half possessions.
He had a 30-yard touchdown pass to Rico Frye, two scoring strikes to E.J. Turner for 21- and 23-yards, and added a 61-yard TD connection with J'Kobe Orr.
