Cartersville Country Club wins GSGA Team Championship

For the fifth time in the last seven years, Cartersville Country Club has captured the Georgia State Golf Association Team Championship.


The Cartersville Country Club team of Chad Branton, Cres Dodd, Kyle Hosick, and Justin Johnson survived frigid temperatures and gusty winds on Sunday to win by three shots over runner-up Atlanta Athletic Club at The Georgia Club.


The championship course played at par-72, 6,929 yards in Statham, Georgia October 28-29.


Cartersville Country Club shot a 5-under-par 355 total score and trails only Lanier Golf Club in total titles during the 25 years of the event. Lanier Golf Club has seven titles.


Athens Country Club placed third with a 2-over-par total. St. Ives Country Club was fourth at 4-over-par, while Golf Club of Georgia and Ashton Hills Country Club tied for fifth at 7-over-par.


Round one was four-ball stroke play and round two was best three-of-four individual stroke play.
