Adairsville third, Woodland fourth at GHSA state cheer championships

All four local high school cheer teams advanced to the GHSA state cheer championships this past weekend at the Columbus Civic Center and two of those teams came away with top five finishes.


Adairsville, who won Region 6-AAA, earned a third place finish in the state finals for Class AAA.


In the all-classificaiton co-ed division, Woodland qualified for the state finals and placed fourth in defense of their 2016 state title.


Cass was the third place qualifier from Region 7-AAAAA and advanced into the state finals where the Colonels placed eleventh.


Cartersville qualified for the state sectionals with a fourth place finish in Region 5-AAAA. The Canes then were the top sectional qualifier on Friday to reach the finals, but their Saturday results were outside the top five and were not reported.
