Lawrence closes out prep career at US Army All-American Bowl

Former Cartersville High School and future Clemson University quarterback Trevor Lawrence wrapped up his prep career Saturday by participating in the US Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, TX.


The game was played in the Alamodome and was won by the West team, 17-16.


Lawrence, who was named Player of the Year by the All-American Bowl, was a member of the East team. His high school head coach, Joey King of Cartersville, served as the East team's offensive coordinator.

Lawrence started the game and shared time with other quarterbacks on the East team.


He tossed a pair of interceptions in his first two drives, but his final three possessions on the field ended with a field goal and two touchdowns.

A two-point conversion attempt in the waning seconds failed, allowing the West team to hold on for a one-point win.


Lawrence was 11-for-17 passing in the game for 83 yards and one touchdown pass. He also rushed five times for a total of 13 net yards. He had a long run of 11 yards and his longest pass completion went for 22 yards.
