Chargers fall behind early in loss to CSCC


Georgia Highlands baseball fell behind early Tuesday afternoon and was unable to recover in a 6-1 loss to Cleveland State CC at LakePoint in Emerson.


Noah Hill drove in one run and had four hits to spark the visiting Cougars’ offense. Logan Peterson also had a three-hit day for Cleveland State.


Ryan Inches (5 IP, 1ER, 5H, 2BB, 5K) picked up the pitching win for CSCC. The Cougars used four other pitchers for one inning each in innings six through nine.


Georgia Highlands managed to plate only one run in the fifth inning after falling behind 5-0.


Zach Miller was the only Charger with two hits. Brandon Allen drove in a run and Skylar McPhee added a double. Cameron Hearn and Miller each stole a base.


Chargers’ starter Zach Fordham (2.1 IP, 2ER, 5H, 2BB, 2K) was tagged with the pitching loss. Georgia Highlands utilized six other pitchers in short stints.


GHC (6-3) hosts Lincoln Trail CC (IL) Saturday and Sunday in a three-game series. The series includes a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. and a single game Sunday at 12 noon.
