Cartersville's Thompson finishes 22nd at Daytona 500
Cartersville driver Mark Thompson made Sunday’s Daytona 500 his first-ever run in the Great American Race and what he says is his last-ever race.
A long-time veteran of the ARCA series, four Xfinity Series races and two prior Cup races, Thompson started 40th in the 40-car race and at 66 years old is the oldest competitor in the history of Daytona.
Austin Dillon won the 2018 title with Thompson placing 22nd.
