Tigers rout Model, remain unbeaten


The Adairsville Tigers scored runs in every inning but one Monday night as they cruised to a 14-4 non-region win at Model.


Chase Horn tossed three innings and allowed only one hit with a pair of strikeouts to earn the win on the mound. Trace Still (0.1 IP, 2ER, 2H, 2BB), Caden Gibbs (2.2 IP, 2ER, 4H, 2BB, 3K), and Garrett Mishoe (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 2BB, 3K) also pitched for the Tigers.


Adairsville scored three runs in the top of the first and added four more in the second for an early 7-0 lead. They added a run in the fourth, two more in the fifth, a run in the sixth, and three in the seventh.


The Blue Devils scored two runs in the fourth to make the score 8-2 and two more in the sixth that narrow the margin to 11-4 at the time.


Kyler Pelfrey and Gibbs finished with two hits each for Adairsville. Pelfrey drove in three and scored three runs. Gibbs had a pair of RBI and scored a run.


Landon Ayers doubled with two RBI. Halen Huskins tripled and drove in one run. Corey Nation, Cody Henderson, and Mishoe had the other Adairsville base hits.


Model (0-3) was led at the plate by two hits from Hunter Wessell. Trevor Proctor allowed seven runs (four earned) in the first two innings to receive the pitching loss.


Adairsville (3-0) heads to Jones County Saturday for a doubleheader at 11 a.m.
