Canes bounce back, blank Sprayberry

Following a disappointing loss Tuesday night at top-ranked Blessed Trinity, the third-ranked Hurricanes bounced back Wednesday evening at LakePoint in Emerson with an 8-0 win over Sprayberry.


Canes’ pitchers Anthony Seigler (4 IP, 3H, 0BB, 4K), J.P. Martin (2 IP, 0H, 2BB, 3K), and Reece Thompson (1 IP, 0H, 2BB, 1K) combined on the shutout.


Cartersville broke open a scoreless game in th fourth inning with four runs and added on in each inning that followed.


Mason Barnett (two singles) and Josh Davis (single, double) both had two hits and one RBI for the Hurricanes. Ian Inaba (RBI), Jordan Wilkie (double), and Brant Smith had the other Cartersville hits. Martin, Jake Gooch, and Garrett Shelton (sac fly) had one RBI each. Seigler stole two bases.


Darnell Mundin had two hits and walked once to reach base in all three at-bats for Sprayberry (3-2).


Cartersville (3-2) hosts Rome and Sequoyah Saturday at Richard Bell Field starting at 11 a.m.
