Three BCRD youth hoops teams remain in GRPA District 5 tourneys

A pair of 10U youth basketball all-star teams representing Bartow County Parks and Recreation advanced in Georgia Parks and Recreation Association District 5 tournaments Tuesday night.


The 10U Bartow County boys reached the championship game of District 5 with a 44-30 win over Dalton at the Houston Suggs Youth Facility at Hamilton Crossing Park.


Jakez Baldwin and Jabari Burleson led Bartow with nine points apiece. Tyrek Hames and Jakai Baldwin followed with eight points each.


Bartow 10U boys will face Whitfield County in the District 5 championship game Thursday at 8 p.m. at Hamilton Crossing Park.


The 10U Bartow County girls also won Tuesday to reach the District 5 semifinals.


KK Arnold led 10U Bartow with eight points. Kaitlyn Evans and Summerlyn Smith followed with seven and six points, respectively.


10U Bartow girls play Whitfield County Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. at Edwards Park Community Center in Dalton. The winner will advance to the finals Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.


The 8U Bartow County boys reached the District 5 championship game with a win this past Monday night. 8U Bartow boys will play Rome/Floyd County at 6:30 p.m. at Hamilton Crossing Park.


In other action Tuesday night, the Bartow County 8U girls lost to Whitfield County 30-10 at their GRPA District 5 tournament in Dalton. The Bartow 14U boys were eliminated by Cobb County at LakePoint’s Champions Center, while both 17U Cartersville and 17U Bartow lost in their District 5 tournament. Bartow fell to Cobb County. Cartersville lost to Paulding County.
