Wildcats defeat South Paulding, Central-Carroll Saturday
Woodland baseball won twice Saturday defeating South Paulding 5-4 and Central-Carroll 12-7 in non-region action at the Ballpark at Woodland.
In the opening win over South Paulding, Woodland led 4-0 through four innings before the Spartans scored two in the fifth and one run in both the sixth and seventh innings to knot the score at 4-4.
The Wildcats walked off with the win on a Titus Jones RBI single.
In the second game, Woodland trailed Central-Carroll 7-0 before they scored four runs in the bottom of the third and exploded for eight runs in the fifth to secure the win.
Bryce Evans picked up both pitching wins on the day. He worked the seventh inning against South Paulding and allowed one unearned run on two hits. He then worked four shutout innings in relief and allowed only one hit and one walk for the win over Central. Evans fanned four in the two appearances.
Jordan Lee had five hits and three RBI on the day for the Wildcats. Titus Jones had three hits, one RBI, and stole four bases. Koby Stansel (4 RBI), Bailey Ward (RBI), and Dylan Webb (RBI, two SB) had two hits apiece. Chris Mills, Bryce Evans, Garrett Cornett (3 SB), and Seth McGill (2 RBI, 2 SB) added one hit each. Zach Woods drove in one run and Kaleb Chance added a stolen base.
Woodland (3-2) travels to Pickens County Tuesday at 5:55 p.m., hosts Sonoraville Thursday, and travels to North Cobb and Darlington on Friday and Saturday.
