GHC softball falls in conference DH
The Georgia Highlands College softball team dropped a conference doubleheader at home Saturday with Georgia Military College, 7-6 and 12-1.
After Georgia Highlands took a 4-0 lead in the opening inning, Georgia Military scored six in the second and one more in the third inning for a 7-4 advantage.
The Chargers added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings and out-hit the Bulldogs ten to eight in the game, but could not gain the tying run down the stretch.
Kindell Reeves hit a grand slam for the Chargers and Alia Booth had three hits and one RBI. Mya Adams and Hannah Wills also had two hits for Georgia Highlands.
Lauren King homered for the Bulldogs and Natalie Johnson added two hits.
In the second game, Georgia Military (15-6, 2-0) homered three times and pounded out 15 hits including four doubles as they scored two or more runs in all five innings of the game.
Lexi Palazzo drove in the Chargers’ only run in the fourth inning. Hannah Wills finished with two hits. Kindell Reeves, Mya Adams, and Sally Fairbank had the only other GHC hits.
Georgia Highlands (14-11, 2-2) plays a pair of road, conference doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday at Andrew College and at Abraham Baldsin Agricultural College. First pitch each day is set for 1 p.m.
