Colonels complete season sweep of Murray County

A trio of Cass pitchers kept the Murray County bats at bay Thursday night as the Colonels won in Chatsworth 7-1 and swept the home-and-home series with the Indians.


Cass broke on top 2-0 in the top of the first inning and added another run in the second. The Colonels lead remained 3-0 until they added an insurance run in the sixth and three more in the seventh.


Murray County’s lone run came in the bottom of the seventh.


Blaine Ingram (4 IP, 0R, 2H, 4BB, 1K) started on the bump for the Colonels. Evan Hinton (2 IP, 0R, 3H, 0BB, 4K) worked the fifth and sixth innings and Wyatt Karlovich (1 IP, 1R, 0ER, 1H, 0BB, 1K) wrapped up the final frame.


Six different Colonels had one hit each.


Clay Means and Bryson Markley both doubled with two walks and one RBI. Matt Shook (sac fly RBI), Thomas Botts, Logan Nelson and Evan Hinton had the other hits. Steven Spell contributed a pair of RBI and Nathan Smith added one RBI.


Murray County drops to 3-8 on the season.


Cass (6-5) travels to Sonoraville Friday at 5:30 p.m.
