2nd-ranked Ringgold wins at Adairsville


The visiting Class AAA 2nd-ranked Ringgold Tigers took a 7-0 lead at Adairsville Friday night through the top of the third inning and held off their hosts for an 11-2 Region 6-AAA win.


Ringgold scored three runs in the top of the first, added a run in the second, and posted another three-run inning in the third for their early advantage.


Adairsville narrowed the lead to 7-2 in the bottom of the third, but Ringgold added four more runs down the stretch for their nine-run win.


Holden Tucker and Dalton Schley had three hits each to lead Ringgold’s 14-hit attack. Three other Ringgold hitters — Wyatt Tennant, Gavin Hollis, and Nathan Camp — added two hits apiece.


Tennant (4 IP, 2ER, 6H, 2BB, 4K) was the winning pitcher for Ringgold. Adairsville starting pitcher Garrett Mishoe (3 IP, 7R, 4ER, 6H, 4BB, 3K) suffered the loss. Trace Still (2.2 IP, 3ER, 0BB, 2K) and Levi Blackwell (1.1 IP, 1ER, 1H, 1BB) also pitched.


Kyler Pelfrey had two hits including a double for Adairsville. Corey Nation also had two hits. Noah Dutton, Mishoe, and Caden Gibbs had the other Adairsville base hits.


Ringgold improved to 11-4 overall and stayed unbeaten in Region 6-AAA at 3-0.


Adairsville (9-4, 2-1) returns to the diamond Tuesday at Haralson County at 5:55 p.m.
