Chargers' fast start holds off ABAC
Georgia Highlands baseball posted nine runs through the first four innings Monday at LakePoint and made it hold up in a 9-7 GCAA conference win over visiting Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
The Chargers pounded out 19 hits in the game with only two extra base hits — both doubles.
Alex Holdbrooks (7 IP, 3R, 1ER, 7H, 3BB, 6K) earned the pitching win for Georgia Highlands with Cody Johnson (1 IP, 4R, 3ER, 2H, 4BB, 1K) and Travis Kuebler (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 0BB, 2K) working in relief.
Nick Piccapietra had four hits for the Chargers including a double and two RBI. Skylar McPhee and Parker Orr both finished with three hits and one RBI. Cameron Hearn and Brandon Allen had two hits and two RBI. Zach Miller drove in a run with two hits and Willis Kemp added two hits.
ABAC slipped to 17-19 overall and 6-8 in conference play.
Georgia Highlands (23-10, 9-5) continues conference games this week at West Georgia Tech Wednesday at 1 p.m. and the Chargers host Gordon State Friday night at 6 p.m. at LakePoint.
