Cartersville Purple 14U travel club wins weekend baseball tourney

A local travel baseball team competing as Cartersville Purple 14U won the Training Legends Tournament this weekend in Marietta at Sewell Park.


Cartersville defeated the Sandy Plains Wildcats and tied the Hobgood Braves in preliminary round games to set up a championship game with the Hobgood Park club.


Cartersville Purple 14U won the championship game, 5-1.


In the finals, Ayden Ray had a two-RBI double in the first inning and finished with three RBI following another hit in the third inning. Brady Cole contributed a pair of hits. Cameron Constantine also contributed one RBI in Cartersville’s three-run third frame.


Constantine went three and two-third innings on the mound for Cartersville allowing one run on four hits with seven strikeouts to earn the pitching win.


Other teams in the tournament included the Cherokee Reds, New Level, and USA Prime.
