Lady Colonels third at eight-team Darlington meet, Cass boys place fifth

The Cass swim team competed in an eight-team meet Tuesday evening at Darlington with the Lady Colonels coming away with a third place finish and the boys placing fifth.


Woodstock won the girls competition with Dawson County placing second. The Coahulla Creek girls were fourth with Darlington, Southeast Whitfield, and Model rounding out the girls’ standings. On the boys side, Woodstock won with Darlington, Dawson County, Southeast Whitfield and Cass rounding out the top five ahead of Model, Coahulla Creek, and Coosa.


Highlights for the Cass teams included a win by Eli Wilhoit in the boys 100-yard butterfly. He was also a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that placed second. Levi McCrary, Solon Harris, and Griffin Howard joined Wilhoit on that relay squad.


Wilhoit, Harris, Howard, and Jackson Jones were the Colonels’ 200-yard freestyle relay team that placed fourth. The Lady Colonels’ 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relay team of Charlotte Sturgeon, Anna Padgett, Destiny Goss, and Breanna Fairchild placed third in both events.


The 200-yard medley relay team of Kayleigh Posey, Aislim Leckwald, Fairchild, and Padgett earned a fourth place finish.
