Woodland, Cass, Cartersville all win first round matches at State Duals Championship
All three local high school wrestling teams at the GHSA State Duals Championship in Macon won their first round matches Thursday at the Macon Centreplex. In Class 5A, top-seeded Woodland blanked Arabia Mountain 82-0 and Cass took down Southwest DeKalb, 49-28. In Class 4A, Cartersville defeated Columbus 42-31. Cartersville will be the next local team on the mats. The Hurricanes will face 2nd-seeded Woodward Academy in the second round Thursday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. Woodland and Cass will compete in the second round Thursday night at 6 p.m. Woodland will face Ware County. Ware topped Walnut Grove in the first round 49-25. Cass will square off against 3rd-seeded Locust Grove.
