Woodland wrestling win region traditional tourney; Bartow teams advance 45 to state sectionals


The Woodland wrestling team won the Region 7-AAAAA championship Saturday and qualified 12 individuals for next week’s state sectionals to lead an impressive day for Bartow County wrestling programs.


The Wildcats had eight individual region champions and finished 82.5 points ahead of second place Kell. Adairsville also had a dozen wrestlers to qualify for sectionals in Class AAA, while Cartersville in Class AAAA and Cass in Class AAAAA will advance ten individuals each. In all, the four Bartow County teams advanced 45 individual wrestlers to the State Sectionals. Cartersville and Adairsville finished the day with two first-place winners each and both teams were region runners-up.


Cass had three first-place winners and finished third in Region 7-AAAAA.
