Woodland, Cartersville girls battle to draw; Canes, Lady Tigers collect wins


The Woodland and Cartersville girls soccer teams battled to a 5-5 draw Thursday night at the Cartersville Soccer Complex. After the Lady Canes took a 5-2 lead, the Lady Cats scored three unanswered goals over the game’s final 20 minutes to escape with a tie. Grace Webb scored four goals for Woodland and Tiera Feanny added a goal for the Lady Cats. Micah Vance scored a hat trick of goals for Cartersville. Kaylyn Donegan and Kendyl Anderson found the back of the net for the other Lady Canes’ goals. Cartersville led 3-2 at halftime and added a pair of goals in the opening portion of the second half before Woodland stormed back to force a tie.


CARTERSVILLE BOYS 5, WOODLAND 1


Alex Rios scored a goal and had two assists to help lead the Hurricanes to a 5-1 home victory over Woodland Thursday night at the Cartersville Soccer Complex. Joel Zazueta and Ricardo Torres had first half goals for Cartersville. Brady Craig added a second half goal and an own goal gave Cartersville a 5-0 lead. Woodland’s goal came in the final two minutes.




ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 6, GORDON CENTRAL 1


The Lady Tigers took a 4-0 lead in the first half and held a 6-0 lead before visiting Gordon Central scored late to avoid a shutout. Sadye Johnson and Cat Wheeler each scored multiple goals for Adairsville.
