2019 Cartersville Little League season gets underway
Cartersville Little League launched its 2019 season Saturday with opening weekend activities and the first slate of regular season games for the year. With skills competitions and a family fun night on Friday night, the Opening Day Ceremonies at First Baptist Church on Saturday morning, and eventually four Little League Majors games Saturday afternoon, the 2019 year is officially underway. Longtime Little League umpire, Lamar Pelfrey, was inducted into the Cartersville Little League Hall of Fame during the ceremonies Saturday.
Pelfrey not only umpired games locally for many years, he eventually worked games for Little League Baseball at district, state, and regional levels along with an appearance in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
