Tigers pick up win over Armuchee


Adairsville baseball scored four times in the sixth inning Monday night to secure a 5-1 non-region victory and the Tigers’ first win of the 2019 season.


Armuchee, hosting at LakePoint took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, but Chase Horn knotted the score at 1-1 in the fifth with an RBI single to score Jacob Ray. The Tigers’ four-run sixth included a three-run double by Kyler Smith and an RBI single by Ray. Noah Nation (4.2 IP, 0R, 2H, 1BB, 6K) picked up the pitching win for Adairsville in relief of Levi Blackwell (2 IP, 1ER, 2H, 3BB, 3K) and Peyton DeBerry (0.1 IP, 2BB).


B.J. Roper had two hits for the Tigers. Trace Still, Landon Ayers, and Elijah Padgett added base hits.


Armuchee slipped to 0-7 on the season. Adairsville (1-4) will host the Indians Wednesday to complete the home-and-home series.
