In the nightcap, the Cartersville boys improved to 6-3 overall and 4-0 in the region with a 3-1 win over the Bulldogs.

The Canes took a 1-0 lead in the game’s 31st minute. Elian Abeja scored the only goal of the first half by bending a corner kick into the near post. The Bulldogs scored an equalizer early in the second half, but the Hurricanes responded with a pair of unanswered goals. Alex Rios found the back of the net in the 62nd minute to give Cartersville a 2-1 advantage when Cedartown failed to clear. Brady Craig then put the game away in the 79th minute with a point blank shot for four yards out. The shot bounced off the cross bar and behind the Bulldogs’ keeper.

The Canes also host Troup County Wednesday following the girls contest.
