Adairsville girls secure 7th-straight state playoff appearance; Tigers win at Ringgold
The Adairsville girls locked up a seventh-straight state playoff appearance and the Tigers also picked up a win Thursday night at Ringgold in Region 6-AAA soccer action.
Ringgold packed ten defenders in the box to stymie the Adairsville girls’ offense for much of the night, but once Megan Hardin scored in the 59th minute off an assist from Hannah Deboard the flood gates opened for an eventual 5-0 win. Cat Wheeler score a minute later, Hardin added her second goal in the 68th minute, and Kaylee Jordan scored a pair of late goals for the Tigers. Hardin and Lillie McBride had assists while goalkeeper Havyn Isaac recorded seven saves on the night for the shutout.
ADAIRSVILLE BOYS 2, RINGGOLD 0
The Adairsville boys also earned a region win at Ringgold Thursday night, winning 2-0. Joseph Pacheco had an unassisted goal in the first half and Emanuel Lopez scored an unassisted goal in the second half.
Ringold was held scoreless by a strong team defensive effort according to coach Jayme Laney. William Longmore was credited with a nice defensive stop as the Tigers’ diamond defense kept Ringgold off the scoreboard. Goalkeeper Tyrek Bryant stopped eight shots.
The Tigers are home Friday against Model at 5:30 p.m.
