Tigers shutout by Colts


The Adairsville baseball team lost a Region 6-AAA game at home Tuesday night to Coahulla Creek, 11-0. The visiting Colts led 4-0 after two innings and were up 9-0 through five innings. They added their final two runs in the seventh inning. Adairsville had six hits in the game and loaded the bases in the third inning, but failed to push a run across.


Four Coahulla Creek hitters — Drew Sage (3 RBI), Irvin Hernandez (2 RBI), Donovan Sims, and Kevin Castaneda — had two hits apiece.


James Reece earned the pitching win for the Colts with four shutout innings and three strikeouts. Elijah Padgett (4 IP, 8R, 5ER, 7H, 2BB, 4K) suffered the pitching loss for Adairsville. Wade Conduff (2 IP, 1R, 0ER, 0H, 1BB, 2K) and Noah Simpson (1 IP, 2ER, 3H, 1K) also pitched in the Tigers’ defeat. Evan Henry had two hits for Adairsville. Conduff, Padgett, Logan Hunt, and Trace Still (double) had one hit each.

Coahulla Creek improved to 5-8 overall and 4-2 in region play with their win.


Adairsville (2-11, 1-6) travels to Murray County Thursday at 5:55 p.m. and plays at 7th-ranked Ringgold Friday.
