Adairsville girls sweep singles lines to defeat Trion; Tigers fall to Bulldogs


In a pair of closely contested matches, the Adairsville girls and boys tennis teams split with Trion Wednesday at the Rome City Courts. The Lady Tigers won all three singles lines for a 3-2 victory, but the Tigers suffered a 3-2 loss with their wins coming at both Line 1 singles and doubles.

ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 3, TRION 2


Singles

Line 1 — Megan Smith won 6-4, 3-6, 12-10 Line 2 — Alexandra Kanturek won 6-2, 6-1

Line 3 — Madison Camp won 6-0, 6-0 Doubles

Line 1 — Olivia Long / Kayleigh Collum lost 1-6, 1-6

Line 2 — Kate Faulk / Joie Bryant lost 2-6, 1-6



TRION 3, ADAIRSVILLE BOYS 2


Singles

Line 1 — Jack Bates won 4-6, 6-0, 10-8 Line 2 — Cameron O’Neal lost 3-6, 4-6

Line 3 — Oak Hemby lost 4-6, 4-6


Doubles

Line 1 — Landon Swanson / Cody Kimbrough won 6-2, 6-4

Line 2 — Zach Ogle / Tristin Alford lost 4-6, 5-7



The Adairsville girls improved to 6-5 overall and are 4-4 in Region 6-AAA. They await their seeding position and their first round opponent for the region tournament that begins April 9 at Calhoun.


The Adairsville boys are now 5-6 overall and 4-4 in Region 6-AAA. They will learn their seeding position and region tournament first round opponent by the end of the week.
