Lady Tigers qualify for state tournament

The Adairsville High School girls golf team has received an at-large bid to the Class AAA State Tournament coming up in just over a week.

The Lady Tigers finished fourth at their Area Tournament April 29 at the Calhoun Elks Lodge and Golf Club where the top three teams advanced automatically to the state tournament. Because Class AAA allows for teams with state qualifying scores to be eligible for at-large berths, the team was following the GHSA’s process in the selections and learned their fate earlier this week.

Juniors Lindsey Angland, Maycee Gwin, and Cortni Jacobs shot a team score of 289 at the area tournament to earn the bid. Jacobs led the way with an 80, Angland fired a 96 and Gwin totaled a 104. Adairsville will now head to the two-day GHSA Class AAA State Championship Tournament to be played at the Arrowhead Pointe Golf Course at Richard B. Russell State Park in Elberton May 20-21.
