Woodland wins at Kell


Woodland softball scored five times in the top of the fourth inning Monday night at Kell to build a 7-2 lead on their way to a 10-5 Region 7-AAAAA win over the Longhorns.


Lainey Baker earned the complete-game pitching win scattering eight hits and four walks. She struck out seven.


Morgan Cooper and Kendyl Hardin homered back-to-back to begin the fourth inning for Woodland. Hardin also had an RBI double in the contest. Morgan Bailey (RBI), Allyssa Motes (RBI), Hannah Miller, Cassie Jones, Kailey Baker, and Bella Carnes contributed one hit apiece.


The loss drops Kell to 9-11 overall and 4-8 in region play.


Woodland (10-10, 7-4) hosts Cass Tuesday and travels to Villa Rica Thursday. Both games are 5:55 p.m. starts.
