Thursday night volleyball: Lady Cats sweep at East Paulding, Lady Colonels split at Pickens


Woodland volleyball defeated Rockmart and East Paulding Thursday night in Dallas. The Lady Cats rolled past Rockmart 25-15 and 25-8 and held on to edge the host Raiders on their senior night 25-22, 27-29, and 20-18.


In the win over Rockmart, Grace Webb finished with four aces, three digs, four blocks, and a pair of kills. Sydney Molinaro totaled nine assists, seven kills, three aces, and two digs. Caroline Gore contributed five aces, five kills, and a dig. Lauren Morris added four digs, four assists, a pair of aces, and one kill.


In the win over East Paulding, Stephanie Carrasco had four aces and four digs. Emily Cigainero had seven digs, two aces, and a kill. Webb finished with five blocks, four digs, four aces, and two kills. Molinaro contributed eight kills, five assists, seven digs, three blocks, and two aces. Gore had six kills, five digs, and four aces. Morris tossed in eight assists, nine digs, and three kills while Delaney Tuplin added four blocks. “East Paulding was really motivated due to their senior night,” said Woodland coach David Condon. “We played with a lot of effort the entire night and battled through some tough periods to find a way to win.”


Woodland (17-14) plays at Model next Thursday.



CASS SPLITS MATCHES AT PICKENS


The Lady Colonels outlasted host Pickens in three sets Thursday night, but fell to Cedartown in straight sets.
