Adairsville basketball teams split region openers at Rockmart
T.J. Printup had a 20-point second half and scored 28 in the game Friday night as the Adairsville Tigers pulled away at Rockmart for a 71-48 Region 6-AAA victory.
Kavi Harris and Tre Winters finished with 13 points each for the Tigers and Tre Mitchell knocked down 11 as Adairsville placed four players in double-figure scoring.
A stingy defensive effort in the second half led to the region win. Adairsville led 19-16 after one quarter and 33-27 at halftime. The Tigers extended their lead to 51-42 in the third quarter and pulled away in the final eight minutes, outscoring the host Yellow Jackets 20-6.
Treylin Davis paced Rockmart (2-1) with 13 points.
Adairsville (2-0) returns to region action Tuesday night at Ringgold.
ROCKMART 48, ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 42
The Adairsville girls struggled in the third quarter Friday night and suffered their first loss of the season at Rockmart, 48-42.
The Lady Tigers held a 12-8 lead after one quarter and were ahead 18-14 at halftime before the Yellow Jackets took control in the third quarter outscoring Adairsville 18-4 for a 32-22 advantage.
Analee Morris led Rockmart (1-2, 1-0) with 18 points.
Lexie Childers scored 16 for Adairsville. Autumn Henderson and Ya’Torrean Hale followed with nine and eight points, respectively.
The Lady Tigers (4-1, 0-1) return to Region 6-AAA action Tuesday at Ringgold.
