Adairsville blanks Gordon Central; Cartersville wins at Cedartown

Adairsville softball powered past Gordon Central Monday evening in Calhoun, 19-0, in three innings.
Adairsville pitcher Maddie Baggett tossed a three-inning no-hitter and struck out three.
Baggett also led the offense with three hits, including a triple and five RBI. Cadey Evans (double, two RBI), Annabelle Mitchell (two RBI), Ashlyn Carlton (RBI), Ansley Powell (triple, RBI), Brooklynn Sellers, and Lillianne Gunter had one hit. Kylee Hollingsworth added one RBI.
The loss dropped Gordon Central to 0-8 on the season.
Adairsville (5-4) visits Ridgeland on Tuesday and hosts the Lady Panthers on Thursday in Region 7-4A games. Both are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. starts.
CARTERSVILLE 5, CEDARTOWN 2
Cedartown led 1-0 through the first three innings on Monday, but Cartersville posted two runs in the top of the fourth and three in the sixth on the way to a 5-2 Region 7-4A victory in Polk County.
Cartersville pitcher Zoie Shiflett collected the win in the circle by scattering four hits with no walks. She allowed one earned run and recorded eight strikeouts.
Kennedy Crenshaw had three hits for the Lady Canes’ offense, including a double and two RBI. Sophia Harper (triple, RBI), Kinsey Woodard, Taryn Bradley, and Shiflett contributed one hit. Sam Porter drove in one run with a sacrifice fly.
The loss dropped Cedartown to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in region action.
Cartersville (10-1, 4-1) hosts Dalton on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
