Adairsville, Cass volleyball both split road matches; Cartersville falls twice
The Adairsville and Cass volleyball teams both split non-region road matches Thursday night while Cartersville dropped a pair of matches on the road.
Adairsville volleyball split a pair of matches Thursday night at Hiram defeating Chapel Hill 25-18, 25-20 and lost to the host Hornets 25-17, 25-14.
“Richlyn Blair, Jenna Claire Hendley, and Jayne Wilson were our standouts,” said Tigers’ coach Kaylie Vaughn Martin. “Blair had a good night hitting outside and Hendley and Wilson stepped up on defense in the middle.”
In the two matches, Blair totaled six aces, 13 kills, and one dig. Hendley had eight kills, two aces, four blocks, and a pair of digs. Wilson totaled three kills, three blocks, one assist, and one dig while Annie McCormick contributed 16 assists.
Adairsville (3-5-2) hosts North Murray and Dalton Academy next Tuesday at 5 p.m.
CASS WINS AT PICKENS, FALLS TO MURRAY COUNTY
Cass volleyball won at Pickens Thursday night 25-13, 25-15 and dropped a match to Murray County 27-25, 25-15 in non-region play.
Jenesys Moctezuma totaled 29 digs in the two matches for the Colonels. Carson Brenna contributed 23 assists. Harlee Davis had six kills and five service aces. Jada Zimmerman also finished with six kills.
Cass (3-1) plays in the Coosa Invitational Saturday in Rome.
CARTERSVILLE DROPS TWO MATCHES
The Lady Canes lost a pair of matches Thursday night in Acworth falling to North Cobb Christian in three sets and Allatoona in straight sets.
Cartersville won the opening set with host North Cobb Christian 25-18, but lost the next two 25-18 and 15-10.
Allatoona defeated the Hurricanes 25-18 in Set 1 and held on to win Set 2, 25-23.
Cartersville (2-2) is scheduled to face South Forsyth and Creekview next Tuesday starting at 5:30 p.m. in Cumming.
