Adairsville ends season with home loss


The Adairsville Tigers lost their final game of the 2021 season Friday at home, falling to Rockmart 8-1.


The visiting Yellow Jackets took a 3-1 lead in the third inning and the score stayed that way until the sixth. Rockmart added three runs in the top of the sixth and two more in the seventh for their seven-run win.


Rockmart pitcher Trevor Caldwell threw a complete game allowing only one unearned run on three hits and one walk. He struck out twelve.


Kyler Smith, Evan Sanders, and Braden Powell had one hit each for the Tigers.


Sanders (3 IP, 3R, 1ER, 4H, 2BB, 4K) started on the mound and took the pitching loss. Brenden Carroll (2.2 IP, 3R, 2ER, 3H, 2BB, 3K), Grayson Belcher (0.1 IP, 0R, 1H, 1K), and Elijah Padgett (1 IP, 2R, 0ER, 2H, 1BB, 2K) all pitched for Adairsville.

Rockmart improved to 9-18 for the season and 5-11 in Region 6-AAA.

The Tigers end their season with a 9-17 mark and a 4-12 record in the region.
