Adairsville falls in opening round of Region 6-AAA tourney


Tucker Deams scored 12 points in Adairsville's 66-58 loss Saturday to Ringgold.

The Adairsville boys basketball team had its season come to an end Saturday night with an opening round 66-58 loss to Ringgold in the Region 6-AAA Tournament at Sonoraville.

Ringgold led 18-15 after one quarter and pushed their lead to 31-20 by halftime. Adairsville narrowed the margin to 47-41 by the end of the third quarter, but Ringgold held on for an eventual eight point win.

O’Reilly Matthews led Ringgold with 18 points. Jayden Williams had 12 and Brevin Massengale 11 points.

T.J. Printup, Jr. scored 26 points to lead Adairsville. Tucker Deams followed with 12 and Hayden Poarch added nine.

Ringgold (3-20) advances to Tuesday’s second round where they will play 5th-seeded Coahulla Creek at 7:30 p.m. at Sonoraville.

Adairsville has its season end with a 10-14 record.
