Adairsville softball falls at Sonoraville; volleyball drops pair at home


Adairsville softball led early, but fell at Sonoraville Monday night 4-1 in a Region 6-AAA contest. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the second inning before the host Phoenix scored twice in the third inning and added two more insurance runs in the sixth. Sonoraville pitcher Taylor Long struck out 13 and limited Adairsville to only three hits. Adairsville’s Victoria O’Neal was almost as good in the pitching circle. She allowed only four hits, but walked six while striking out nine. McKenzie Pullam, Chloe Souders, and Taylor Rhoades had one hit each for the Tigers. Alyssa Jarrett drove in the Adairsville run.

Sonoraville improved to 8-4 overall and 8-1 atop the region standings. Adairsville (10-6, 4-5) plays at Coahulla Creek Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.


TIGERS’ VOLLEYBALL DROPS TWO

Adairsville volleyball dropped a pair of home matches Monday evening. The Tigers lost a non-region match to East Paulding 25-18 and 27-25 before falling in a Region 6-AAA match to Sonoraville 25-22 and 25-18.

In the loss to East Paulding, Annie McCormick finished with six assists, four digs, and one ace. Grace Collins contributed 13 digs and a pair of aces. Autumn Henderson totaled seven kills. Katlynn Burnett had six digs while Kaylee Jordan added four kills and two digs. Against Sonoraville, Jordan finished with five digs, one kill, and one ace. Collins contributed three digs and a pair of aces. Lexie Childers totaled four assists, two digs, and one kill.

Adairsville (11-12, 3-5) hosts Dade County and Hiram Thursday at 5 p.m.
